Shape Up, or . . .

In an ecclesiastical nutshell: the LORD’S ways are the standard; all other ways are derivatives of these ways. Some of the derivatives are pure extracts, and others are crude adulterations, but all of man’s ways are derivative from the ways of the LORD. Moreover, the extracts are produced with little understanding, by man, of that from which they are making the extract; for, the LORD’S way is as Scripture (quoting the LORD) tells us.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

(Isaiah 55:6-9)

Wherefore before you criticize the LORD for using (gasp) socialist techniques, remember that these techniques were not just, good enough, they were also essential for the development of the worlds of earth; especially, for the survival of the example people of God in the congregation of Israel. Among these techniques is this one:

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

(Exodus 12:1-4)

The socialist activity at the Passover was not temporary; for, the Passover is perpetual, and the LORD has not changed the requirement.

Kingdoms of Man: Part Twelve (Challenge)

January 23rd, 2011

At the end of that day in which the LORD removed the ability of mankind to totally destroy mankind, the most difficult part of the assignment for the kingdom of man was introduced to the people of the world. At that time, we were told that we had to practice, and begin to perfect, negotiation. Among the people studying the history of the kingdom of man, are some ones who know that this process actually started in one of the most brutal of the four stages of development of the kingdom of man. This process actually started in Rome. Unfortunately, it was one of those, things of the flesh, as sent forth from Rome. The current word for it is politics. Politics was applied to the people of the LORD, and it produced very poor results, from the perspective of righteousness.

Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

(Daniel 9:24-27)
Still, the people of God were, and are, under a mandate from the LORD; a mandate that requires us to honor God’s choice of systems for the kingdom of man. In other words, we have to respect the political organizations that have been put in place for us. This can be done in a somewhat quiet fashion by honoring the laws that are in effect where we live. Here is an example of the way we may do this….

Rule of Order

So, what was the other half of the fifth that came from the people? This is that portion:

And Samuel told all the words of the LORD unto the people that asked of him a king. And he said,

This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots. And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots. And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers. And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

And he will take the tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants.

(1 Samuel 8:10-14)

Highlight this portion in your mind;

And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your goodliest young men, and your asses, and put them to his work.

He will take the tenth of your sheep:    and ye shall be his servants.

(1 Samuel 8:16-17)

Kingdoms of Man: Part Eleven (Phasing)

January 9th, 2011

The flow of the maturation of the kingdom of man started with Adam, as a unit. It took a major step forward when the nation of Israel was presented to the world. Looking at it from the perspective of the time of Moses, one might be willing to practice some wistful nostalgia about the way the world would have been if we had stopped there; but that was only stage one. There were four more stages of development that were designed into the flow of the kingdom of man, with a fifth stage that would greatly enhance the kingdoms of man beyond anyone’s expectation. The four steps of the development of the kingdom of man, beyond the pattern of Israel’s status with God, are our lesson in the methodology of God, taking us from the exit from Eden, to the doors of heaven. The prophet Daniel received the honor of delivering the LORD’S lesson.

This is the dream; and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king.   Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold. And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee,

and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.

And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.

And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

(Daniel 2:36-45)These four kingdoms were our homework, in the assignments of preparing the kingdom of man to receive the emissary of the LORD. Through each one of these homework assignments, we were being pushed more and more to a point of acknowledging that we need one another. The apostle Paul describes the destination….

Gasp! Share the Wealth?

The progressive governments of the world are anxiously trying to emulate the Israelites, in gradation in taxation. This has raised the temperature of some of the critics of various administrations. Various negative words are enlisted in an effort to cast the section of the people that cannot get so much, as being dead weight that should be eliminated. This is not a positive approach to congregational living, in the LORD.

Now, we must admit that there is no shortage of devious people, to lend a measure of truth to some of the criticism. For instance, in the case of the “welfare queens”; these are people that have decided to steal from others, through certain loopholes that are not supervised properly. Unfortunately, some of these loopholes cannot be supervised to a level that would stop the cheats, without harming the people who actually need the benefits. The LORD’S servant, Nehemiah, was beset by this type of behavior. However, since he had the support of the LORD, he was able to see, and close, the loophole.

And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews. For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: therefore we take up corn for them, that we may eat, and live. Some also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth. There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king’s tribute, and that upon our lands and vineyards.    Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto bondage already: neither is it in our power to redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards. And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words. Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said unto them, Ye exact usury, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them. And I said unto them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, which were sold unto the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold unto us?   Then held they their peace, and found nothing to answer.

Also I said, It is not good that ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies? I likewise, and my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury. Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their oliveyards, and their houses, also the hundredth part of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.

Then said they, We will restore them, and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest.

Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they should do according to this promise. Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labour, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied.

And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD.

And the people did according to this promise.

(Nehemiah 5:1-13)

Kingdoms of Man: Part Ten (Humility)

So that no one becomes upset with my arrogance in giving mankind a demotion; here is the chain of thought that describes the, lower than, more fully. First, we are flesh. Since we are flesh, we are not, now, pure spirit.

There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Funding Sources

And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.

(Exodus 33:19)

To support any political system, we must have funds. The children of Israel were blessed by the LORD with a significant infusion of assets to carry them forward into the Promised Land. This is that funding source:

And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: And the LORD gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians.

Kingdoms of Man: Part Nine (Assignment)

December 10th, 2010

So, just why are we here? This may seem to be a pointless question, since we are here; however, there are many systems of logic that seem to indicate that we are here because we placed our self here. One of the most amusing ones (sorry about that) is the one that indicates that mankind invented God. This would seem to be a piece of obviously flawed logic, but it has some measure of truth. To be fair to those who use this line of reasoning, the actual statement should be that mankind invented religion. This is an actual fact. Mankind invented religion, then mankind invented another religion, and then mankind invented another religion; and another religion, and another religion, and so on. To say this does not equate religion with the Living God.

God did not invent a religion; God spawned Religion. The difference is that of bring something from something, as set against bringing something from nothing. God’s spawning of Religion set the pattern for many spawning of religions. God’s empowering of Religion put the impact in man’s dependence on, and need or, religion: God does not need religion. God does not need mankind’s practice of religion; or even, Religion. A young man, in the time of Job, expressed this fact quite eloquently.

Elihu spake moreover, and said,   Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s? For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou. If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand? Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.

The Local Force

Scripture tells us this about the beginning of the redemption of the Israelites, by the devotion of the local power of the overseer of the LORD, Moses with Aaron:

And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.

(Exodus 4:31)

Fortunately for the children of Israel, those early signs and wonders that they had seen in Egypt were embedded in their portfolio of psychological principles. However, the mind is a very active place, and later events tend to move prior ones into a dormant place. So, to keep God’s presence in active memory and to give them a later reminder; the LORD gave them an incentive to rely on the new type of environment that He was bringing them to.

In the process of moving the Israelites to a new place in reality, the LORD activated a very controlled environment. Though, it was not the type of control that dictators wield; instead, it is the type of control that a social leader delivers. In that respect, Moses was the means by which the LORD was delivering the children of Israel to the height of socialism. The signs and wonders of the LORD, in Egypt, and the wilderness, also served to move the Israelites to the point in mind at which they were willing to begin the process.

The process of substituting the activity of the mind, in lieu of dependence on signs and wonders, started with the spiritual stirring of fear. The end result was the request of the people for intercession of a local power source, the LORD’S elected one. In that request, the LORD had delivered the people to a point of establishing Moses as the recognized power in the congregation.

The LORD did not command the people (directly) to accept a local authority; they did so willingly and openly–when we recognize our need for it, socialism merges more peacefully into societies. However, whether we recognize our need, or not; when the LORD ordains this, or any other environment, God’s will is done. Understand this: God is, here, the Author of both the interactions and the associated reactions.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking:

and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

(Exodus 20:18-21)

Kingdoms of Man: Part Eight (Mission)

November 8th, 2010

When we realize that there is nothing in the kingdom of man that does not have a purpose for being there, then we being to understand the broader charter of the kingdom of man. There has been a goodly measure of lamentation about the bad things that happen in life. Some people have even decided that all the bad things must be separated from the LORD. This is neither a wise thing to do, nor is it a possible thing to do. As we read in Scripture; the LORD said, I make peace, and create evil. This does not mean that the LORD does wicked things. This means that the LORD also made those unpleasant things that exist in the kingdom of man. They were placed there to provide a counterbalancing challenge for mankind, to offset our tremendous reservoir of pride. Moses expressed it this way.

A Prayer of Moses the man of God.LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men. For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up. In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled. Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.

(Psalm 90:1-9)The Preacher, king Solomon, wrote of this counterbalance, and how we should respond to it. If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.(Proverbs 24:10)The man Job lived this counterbalance, as a burned in part of his life. Still, the man Job did not faint in the day of adversity. The knowledge of this man’s victory and exaltation may have been a part of the thoughts of Solomon as he wrote his proverb about adversity. These are the words that could have been a part of Solomon’s thinking, and that fit well in his motivation: shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?
