Kingdoms of Man: Part Four (Purpose)

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Sometimes, when I look around me, I ask myself, “Why did God ever bother to make a kingdom of man.” This topic may cause some debate, but let me introduce it anyway. It seems that God already has a community of willing participants in reality, up to the point where Genesis 1:1 was invoked. This became sort of obvious later in the book, when the LORD God said, “Let us”. This means that there was something, other than the LORD God, already–sorry, but I do have to use a kingdom of man word, here–existing before Genesis 1:1. Even if we go with the rhetorical mode of the, us, in the, Let us; we are still left with the fact that this indicates that God had a notion of there being something else, besides Himself: this thought, by itself, constitutes the existence of something else; for, what the LORD thinks is automatically in existence. The LORD speaks, in a slightly indirect fashion, of this aspect of His mind.

Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness: I bring near my righteousness: it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.(Isaiah 46:9-13)

Kingdoms of Man: Part Three (Proving)

Friday, August 6th, 2010

In the early part of the outfitting of the kingdom of man, two of God’s finest creations had a difficult time with the truth. . . .

.

We have paused in the flow of the discussion because we have not laid the foundation for your understanding of why the truth is significant in the kingdom of man. In fact, we have not yet laid the foundation for what truth is, in the kingdom of man. So, let us go back to the flow of, Let us, which include the driving forces in the crafting of who we are. We have already covered the fact that God is the First Cause of everything. From Him, come the derivatives that we see all around us. I will let the apostle Paul explain it.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. (Romans 1:18-23)

Sometimes I get the feeling that some of the scientists of the world just do not understand the sequential nature of processes. Yes, I know this is a strange thing to say, since scientists are usually credited with being the masters of the progressive discovery of things. However, when it comes to the construction of the kingdom of man, there seems to be a disconnection between the process that drives our existence, and the primordial power that was required to instigate its creation. Actually, I should not be so broad-brush in my criticism. In reality, there is only a small subset of the group known as scientists, who are intent on skipping steps in the development of the kingdom of man. The apostle Paul sent a caution to one of the saints of his day, about these types of scientific shortcuts.

O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.Grace be with thee.Amen.(1 Timothy 6:20-21)

Kingdoms of Man: Part One (Prophecy)

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Among some of the believers in Christ, there is a push for a consolidated kingdom of man. This, however, would be contrary to Scripture–if such achievement were even possible. We need only look to Revelation to see that the capstone to the design of God accommodates kingdoms–and not just a single kingdom.

And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.(Revelation 21:22-27) —   . . .

(Key to the Kingdom)

Personal

Do not think that rest in the Kingdom of Heaven is according to some human prescription. There are principles of the LORD that govern our abiding in the Kingdom of Heaven, as well as in any other place of eternal presence with the LORD. One of those principles is that we must be stripped of those things that would offend the LORD. For instance, it would not be good for a soul to enter the presence of the LORD with a central focus on gaining money: money is not needed in the Kingdom of Heaven.

It would also not be good for a soul to enter the presence of the LORD with only the skill of making war: war is not required in the Kingdom of Heaven. Indeed, we have a powerful example of the distance that war is from the Kingdom of Heaven. This example involves an earthly matter that was an image of the Kingdom of Heaven; which matter is, the building of the temple.

Then David said, This is the house of the LORD God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel. And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God. And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight; Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David. And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the LORD must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it.So David prepared abundantly before his death.

Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the LORD God of Israel. And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the LORD my God: But the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever.

(1 Chronicles 22:1-10)
To understand the non-essential nature of war–now–in the Kingdom of Heaven, one need only consider that: it is not for naught that the Prince of the realm in the Kingdom of Heaven is called the Prince of Peace.

Open Doors

We have already read of the transportation of Elijah to the Kingdom of Heaven: this example is one of dynamic activity. As we also read, Elijah did not just sit in the Kingdom of Heaven, spending all of eternity just performing the function of praising God; this is not the sole duty of regenerated humankind. The LORD God has a particular category of creation that operates this fashion.

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And thefirst beast was like a lion, and the

second beast like a calf, and the

third beast had a face as a man, and the

fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

(Revelation 4:1-8)
The LORD God also has a category of creation that performs periodic praise of His name, and periodic display of His glory.

Expanded Consideration

Promise

There may be some doubt, or even anxiety, about whether or not we have a place that is prepared for us in the Kingdom of Heaven. Well, to begin to dispel that doubt, please read these words of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (John 14:1-3)This is the introduction of the possibility of residence therein. However, later on in Scripture, there is a dampener on any thought of assuming that our residence must be in the Kingdom of Heaven. The apostle Paul seems to indicate that there might be some question about its availability, as he writes the phrase, “Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect“. This is the thought of the apostle Paul that surrounds that phrase. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

(Philippians 3:4-14)
Fear not, little ones; this is not a reference to the residency that is obtained by those who are so favored by God to reside with Him. This is a matter of whether we can achieve the kind of devotion to service and the mind of righteousness that will bring us to a place of rest in the LORD. The devotion to service and the mind of righteousness are needed now as we travel the journey here, so that we will have a peace that is like unto the peace that was expressed by the apostle Paul.

A place for me, too

It may not be apparent to many of those who ponder the location in reality of the Kingdom of Heaven by looking up, as an indication of its relative location; but, “up” is relative. It is easy to evaluate the relativity of the word, up, when we think of the positioning of the human body relative to other structures. For a man standing on the ground, the eighth floor is usually perceived to be up, from where he is standing. But for the person standing on the eighth floor, the eighth floor is level with his position in reality. Furthermore, for the person standing on the ninth floor, the eighth floor is down, from his position in reality; unless his mind’s positioning of his perceived reality is, for instance, standing on the seventh floor, or below. The same thing holds true for the kingdom of heaven, except in a much more metaphysical fashion.

One of the things that one needs to do when one is perceiving of the Kingdom of Heaven, is to stop looking at the stars and the planets. The celestial bodies bear absolutely no relationship to the Kingdom of Heaven. It will be clearer when we visualize this Kingdom, if we think of the actions that are performed from there. The LORD spoke of many of these actions through the words of the prophets. One of the times that the LORD spoke directly of the nature of the actions that are performed in the Kingdom of Heaven, was when He delivered the following message to mankind.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:6-9)In the latter day, the Prophet Jesus Christ, too, spoke of the actions that emanate from the Kingdom of Heaven. A summary of those actions is included in the last sentence of this, his clarification of reality in the Kingdom of the Father, wrapped in a message of understanding that was given to his disciples.

HEAVEN

as an image flowing through the Bible

according to the design of the LORD God

(with a few personal comments)

A place of last resort

There wasn’t much conversation about heaven in the Old Testament. There was, of course, the understanding that man once had access to the Garden of Eden. This was a matter of the understanding of God’s perfect Creation; that at one point, mankind too was perfect. This is the initial state of all infant creatures, such as was mankind at its beginning. In the Genesis window to our history, we were given a bit of understanding about where mankind had been; but it was also understood that there would probably be no immediate returning there. God had made a certain arrangement that would prevent us from entering the Garden, even if we were ever able to find it. Don’t think of it as a penalty; instead, think of it as a prod to keep mankind moving along the circle of reality; a prod that would, one day, loop back to the perfect state.

So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life. (Genesis 3:24)Back in the Old Testament, folks were content if they could live a comfortable life, with appropriate blessings, and then die somewhat peacefully. Even the kings had a simple end of life experience that is chronicled in the pages of the Bible. This experience touched all the kings of the Old Testament; from the most revered . . . So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David. And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem. (1 Kings 2:10-11). . . to the most reviled. And the LORD spake by his servants the prophets, saying, Because Manasseh king of Judah hath done these abominations, and hath done wickedly above all that the Amorites did, which were before him, and hath made Judah also to sin with his idols: Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle. And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down. And I will forsake the remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies; and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies; Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day. Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and his sin that he sinned, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

(2 Kings 21:10-18)
In time, though, the religious leaders started to develop lines of reasoning that included concentration on heaven. These lines or reasoning are not errant, it is just not clear why they make a difference in everyday life. In fact, in many cases they can be the anchor to keep us fixed on a certain spot on the circle of reality; and sometimes, even, they can cause us to backtrack in our movement toward the perfection of Creation. This was demonstrated in the Bible times, revealing the fact that for many of the religious leaders this type of concentration led to contention. The apostle Paul was involved in one such very intense discussion, which involved two factions of his day.    Click here to review the completed study of heaven (pdf format)

Marriage

as set against

Holy Matrimony

as it flows through the Bible

according to the design of the LORD God

(with a few personal comments)

The title indicates that there can be a separation of the act of marriage from the ordinance of holy matrimony; this is correct. The act of marriage is basically a carnal thing, which is why it can be governed by the laws of the land. Therefore, this allows the state to instigate such things as recognition of same-sex marriage.

The sacrament of holy matrimony, however, is ordained according to the total weight of the Law of God.

This allowance of the control by mankind of marriage, as set against God’s sole control of holy matrimony, separates the penalty of the Law from the spirit of the Law. For instance, in the penalty of the Law there are certain acts (acts that you will read about in the body, following) are capital punishment type offenses, according to the penalty of the Law. However, in the spirit of the Law–which spirit is to bring about community order by obedience to authority–the LORD has allowed that type of judgment to rest with the state, as per the statement that was spoken by Jesus Christ.

Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Shew me the tribute money.

And they brought unto him a penny.

And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

They say unto him, Caesar’s.

Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.

When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

(Matthew 22:15-22)
However, though Caesar can now implement, and establish, the penalty of violation of the law of the land; there is still the matter of spiritual liability that accrues to those who violate the Law of God. These extracts are not for everyone. These extracts are only for those who are determined to move through life as close to the Spirit of the Law of God as they possibly can. He who hath an ear, let him hear. These are the practices that identify those who are intent on pursuing a holy matrimonial relationship, as opposed to a legal, sometimes promiscuous marriage.
