We have established a foundation for accepting that there is only ONE something from nothing; which we refer to as, The First Cause–but more commonly as, Creativity. Now, we need to start looking at matters from a somewhat selfish perspective; after all, we do want to continue to live in the space that was set out by Creativity. Of course, we respect and revere Creativity, but, still; potentiality does not put bread on the table, or secure a place for us in life. This is the underlying thought that filled this statement of a certain early man, Abram, as he heard about a gift of great potentiality that he had been given.
After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
(Genesis 15:1-3) Abram was indicating that he recognized the gift of potentiality, and that he recognized that the gift was the possibility of something from the nothing; which, gift, he presently had in his possession. Even so, Abram wanted the gift to manifest itself as an activity of, something from something (actuality). Yes, this was already complete in the microcosm of promise.
