Kingdoms of Man: Part Twenty-One (Negotiation)

The example of the early church is the example of a specialized section of the kingdom of man. This example is one that should be applied to every church that exists. That is to say, the example should be applied to every church that exists in the same form as the early church of the time of the apostles of Jesus Christ.

And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

(Acts 2:44-47)
I hope that I am not offending anyone, but we do not have very many of these churches in existence today. The churches that exist today have become highly politicized; and they bring to mind the discussion that Jesus had with some of the religious leaders of his day. And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words. And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not? Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.And they brought it.

And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

And they said unto him, Caesar’s.

And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.

And they marvelled at him.

(Mark 12:13-17)
